4-seasons hiking path
How much milk does a cow provide in one day? What is the machine with the curious sounding name “Kardatsche” used for? What does freshly cut hay feel like? Exciting answers to these and other questions can be found on the four seasons hiking path on the Hahnenkamm.

In this innovative project, Kitzbühel Tourismus places the agricultural year to the fore. Accessible directly via the Hahnenkammbahn, a path, which is easy to walk on has been designed for all the senses.
The four stations, one for each season, entice the visitor to look and listen, smell and feel.
The motto for the spring station is “Milk”. In the tracks of ‘Milchstraße’, the route from cow to milk carton is investigated. Demonstrate your own abilities as a farmer in the milking parlour. Milking by hand is not that easy ...
We then continue to the station which is entirely devoted to hay. Those of you who have assembled a little hay man by yourself, can then be carried off into the hay bed, and the Tirol world of myth and legend.

The aroma of autumn is that comforting scent of wood. Our forefathers knew long ago how fantastic this substance was. Along with old wooden houses and shingle roofs, wooden fences create an image which is typical of a Tirol landscape. The four-seasons hiking path rekindles these old fencing construction methods, and some of the models have been set up for you to look at.

Having finally arrived at the winter station the visitor can get acquainted with this rural handicraft. From making baskets to spinning, all the way through to carving, old techniques are conveyed and various types of materials encourage tactility.

In summer young and old can discover the four seasons hiking path on the Hahnenkamm / panorama path for themselves; entry is free - or you can take part in regular guided tours as part of the free Kitzbühel hiking programme. More information at www.kitzbuehel.com
