The route in detail:

Continuing then to the actual start of the Streif hike, the start house. From here it is 3312 m up to the finish. After you have passed the start, this adventure-filled hike then continues on the world-renowned Mausefalle. With an 85% gradient it is the steepest section of the descent! Those of you for whom this dizzy height is not quite enough, can climb to the next station in the steep escarpment. In winter this passage is the iciest point. Thereafter follows the flattest point and the longest cruising section - the Gschöss.

Here racing skiers can get up to speeds of around 90 km/hr. You can’t miss the old forest aisle. As the bumpiest section of the route, it presents athletes with the challenge of speedy terrain and variations in the light. From here it is still around 526 metres altitude to the finish and it’s not that far to the Seidlalm. It was on this site in 1966 that the idea for the World Cup was born. Those who want to can have a good rest for a bit longer and continue hiking to Seidlalm See, a water storage reservation for snow-making facilities.

At the end of the Streif hike there is still the Lärchenschuss to conquer, the local mountain, and the finish point. The local mountain is described by many experts as the most breathtaking site, exacting the highest requirements from man and material. At the finish racing skiers reach speeds of up to 140 km/hr.
